This seems to be a great deal, to get that wide with Canon L glass (EF 11-24mm L F/4) you are talking about $3K. And the Rokinon is faster! I wouldn’t think the MF is really a downside because you are more often than not likely to disengage AF for those ultra wide applications anyway. My only concern would be the degree of chromatic aberration but again in ultra wide applications this might not be a factor and there is always PhotoShop if it’s minor. Lack of zoom capability is what it is, every lens has some sort of trade off and all things considered it’s probably the lesser of the possible evils you could have to accept.

ATT MEE says:

loud intro music, and then low voice, and no, not the best wide angle lens, probably it’s the one that you have

Musa Hoosain says:

Nice video dude! Few things you can improve on:
1) make an outro (the ending was really abrupt)
2) try to transition the music a bit better. It was really loud at the beginning and almost couldn’t hear what you were saying.

Other than those two things, I really enjoyed the video! I’m also just getting into astrophotography and was looking for an ultra-wide angle on a budget. Wish it had an on/off AF system, but I can work around that.

On another note, you just focus to infinity for astrophotography, right? or are there other situations where one would need to focus and other stops?

Socrates Vela says:

Are you using this apsc lens on FF? Which model body?

OfficialKMartin1000 says:

Canon M mount, not EF mount. This lens is ment for mirrorless cameras.

traveller 66 says:

Suspect that the mounting ring is plastic….

Andreas Löwenborg says:

The vertical part of the L-shaped mark for infinity focus is the indicator for where to align the focus dot on every lens I’ve seen, not the end of the line closest to the infinity symbol. So if it focuses to infinity there, it is actually spot on.

Uros Riznic says:

Can you use this lens on Canon crop sensor camera? or its just for sonys ?

Vintage Pictures says:

Nice. I like the Rokinon very much because it’s super wide, sharp and lightweight but the only con is the chromatic aberration. Of course with Lightroom or Lens compensation it’s no issue after the correction.

john halton says:

its not the best , because there isnt one for Nikon,,,,, its only your best cause it suits you………………….

SeeRobertEat says:

Will that lens fit on my canon rebel?

richard midgley says:

For Astro work I use focus magnifier to the C2 button on my A6000 to get stars pin sharp, I never use focus peaking at night now.

Berlyn says:

You got a ghost in your house that keeps open and close you glass door behind your right shoulder at 1:39 second in your video. Did anyone noticed but me?

SeeRobertEat says:

what are the settings for those night shots?

Dominic Paré says:

Sound?!?!?
