Tamron 15-30mm F/2.8 Hands On Review: Best Wide Angle Lens Ever

I give a full hands on review of the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. With its wide variety, Vibration Control, distortion control and build quality, this is going to find a spot in my bag in the near future. It focuses quickly, test with the Pentax K-1 mainly, is sharp at f/2.8 to fully stopped. This is one of the best full frame wide angle lenses ever made. Thanks to BHPhoto for sponsoring this review!

Would the a mount version of this work fine on a a6000 with an adapter, auto focus wise

The Tamron 15-30mm lens is the best wide angle zoom out there. I love mine!

Yes please to a review with the 15-30mm on the Pentax K-1!

Sagar Sigdel says:

quick question: what is the difference between shooting with ultra wide from close range and shooting with 24mm from backing up some distance? can we capture wide view?

Juan Alvarado says:

Will this work with the 5D 4. I heard some tamron lenses are having issues on the camera. I’m hoping this isn’t one of them.

Lance J. Reha says:

I love mine, it is a beast!

C SingSing says:

hi Eric

I have been using the Tamron 15-30 for a few occasions now.

One issue that I encounter is that when I have this lens on a tripod (for 10-30 second) with VC on, this lens produce shaky images. However, once I switch the VC off, It produce sharp images.

May I know why is that so?

If I am using handheld with VC on, this lens produce no shaky images.

floex831 says:

Maybe when a replacement for the Nikon 14-24 comes out it will perform just as well but the Tamron is king of wide angle, the bang for the buck is amazing and the competitive pricing is icing on the cake.

Collin says:

I was right about to buy this lens but when I saw that only the filter costs $125 and the glass to install on the filter is $125-$150…I will pass ! Too bad, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this lens.

Brandon Guise says:

Definitely one of my favorite lenses in my bag… 🙂 Oddly enough I like using it for environmental portraits.

Ewicberger says:

my favorite lens is the 16-35 f/2.8 from canon. it’s light, wide and only $300 more than that lens.
the VR though, would be very nice to have.

colblimp says:

I have the Nikon 14-24, which is spectacular, but I’m seriously considering buying this lens (as Tamron) because it’s so good ‘allegedly’!

Another great review Eric, that image of the lights is fantastic!
