Best Wide Angle Lens for APS-C/DX Canon & Nikon Tamron Hands On Review

Goto 6:30 to hear my final thoughts on the Lens

Hey Photo Tribe!

Many Nikon DX & Canon APS-C crop sensor shooters have asked for me to review the brand new super wide angle Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD so I brought one into the studio and ran it through it’s paces.

This is the perfect Landscape, Real Estate and Vlogging wide angle lens for a crop sensor body to hit the market at this price range! 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Thanks for the review!

Robb Breck says:

This is my next lens! It should pair nicely with my Nikon D7200. Thanks for the review

Isaac Lopez says:

Nice video by the way !

Joseph - My Life In Metro Manila says:

I bought a Tamron, and you couldn’t even split eyelashes when you zoomed in, Took it back to the store the next day. I’ll forever stick with L-Glass….

Still gave a thumbs up, very nice review, if it wasn’t for my past experience I probably would have gave this a shot.

Jacob Mullins says:

would you prefer this Tamron over the Canon 10-18, which has great reviews, and is $279 vs $500.

The Dude says:

Good review!
But unfortunatelly the HLD drive isnt silent, so its not comparable to the canon STM technology.

Luigiz28 says:

Great video and great review! A little off subject but have you tried the Tamron 17-50 2.8 for Canon or Nikon? I’m looking to upgrade my kit lens and not sure whether to go Tamron or Sigma 17-50 2.8.

Tanish Gupta says:

How is it compared to the Sigma 10-20 f/3.5?

Lloyd Lausa says:

Please do make a comparison with this lens against Tokina 11-20mm f2.8 Atx pro Dx.. im torn between with these two lenses. Please help me decide.

René Jul says:

first off, tanks for good rewives. this is not so mutch a coment ass it is a question.

I reseantly upgradet my nikon D70s to a D7200 and “went the extra mile” and got my a Tamron 28-75 F2,8 and i have a 70-300 tamron …… but …. after the fackt i found out that over half of the pic i have taken up until the change is taken between 18mm – 24mm. I mostly tape pic famaly partys ind dorre, hollydays …. mostly just fun privat stoff…. and latlie the local sports club have asked my to take pic at there events.

so my question is wher to go frome her… becaus i miss the span down to the 18 mm … and money is a big isu … do i by a 10-24? ore maby by a 17-50 from sigma and try to sell the 28-75 and pray i dont miss the gab from 55-70? ore doo i take a crasy jump and by a 20mm prime and uses that indore

South Aussie Outdoors says:

I have the older version which I use on my D3100 and get great landscape, astro shots etc. This new one was must be a ripper based on the many positive reviews.

Steve Kunder says:

Do you think this is fast enough for star trails, also for landscape on the Nikon D500

Krunoslav Stifter says:

Good overview. Thanks for the info. Sounds like a very solid lens, especially for photo work. Question for vlogers. Would you say or know how much does it distort the face if you are using it for vloging at arms length. Considering its so wide. Would that be a concern to you? Or its it acceptable. I know its partly personal preference but I’m curious. Also do you prefer telephoto, normal or wide lenses for vloging in studio set up.

Logan Cressler says:

Nah, I will take the Tokina 11-20 F2.8 for the same price….

Paula Showen says:

I love your videos! Thanks for some really great information.

Travis Hood says:

Great review.

Kevin Clements says:

Hey where in South Fla ? I’m in the Westchester area of Miami (Palmetto & Coral Way).. U was interested in this lens until I saw several videos showing the grinding noise it has made it impossible for video. It was very very annoying. I decided to pass on it.

Stefan1968ful says:

Thanks for this video. I use the new Tamron 10-24mm on my Nikon D500. And it really, really performs great. I also added the Tamron 70-200mm g2 and I have to say that with the new SP line Tamron is really rocking the market right now. And this at a price point which is really cool.

Many Nikon DX & Canon APS-C crop sensor shooters have asked for me to review the brand new super wide angle Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD so I brought one into the studio and ran it through it’s paces. What lens do you use for wide angle shots?

Carlo Miguel says:

Can you do a test where its AF is on in video mode while an external mic is ON/OFF while being used?

Isaac Lopez says:

Would you recommend either this lens you reviewed in the video or the Nikon 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 which is priced at 300$. I do landscape and plan on making vlogs and I shoot with a Nikon D3300

Daniela Argandoña says:

As I use also a full frame, I went with the Tamron 15-30, and I am so , so happy with it! 🙂 Have you tried it yet Jay? 🙂 It’s a lovely lens!!!

Amine Bedrani says:

Great review ..but i have a questionWhat are the conditions which must i buy this ultra wide angle or the tamron 70-200mm f2.8 vc g2 ??? I have to choose one of them because of the money i have

MrPlaidboy says:

Good review, like your approach and like your collab with Trevor as well. Still like the rendition of L glass better though. I think Tamron currently is beating the other third party makers. Thanks.

Marc Morris says:

Just sent you a friend request on Facebook. Subscribed and liked. Great review. It’s nice to hear about the little details of a lens that matter so much. As a Tamron guy, it means a great deal, mate. Well done.
