Nice review, thanks. Do you think the relatively narrow aperture, no wider than F4.5 is a problem with sports requiring faster shutter speeds or will the reported excellent image stabilisation compensate?
I cant see an aperture ring?????
So Fuji makes mostly metal lenses, even some cheap one like the 18mm and then uses plastic for the biggest and most expensive one…disappointing
Great review! I’ve got this lens and XF 50-140 as well. The TC 1.4x works well with XF 50-140 but not so wit
I have that exact shirt (54 year old guy in Southern California). Apparently it attracts photographers… of a certain age… lol
Well, see it from this perspective. If this lens would be made completely out of metal the people would complain about the weight. I know what I am talking about because I use the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 on my Nikon D500 and this monster weights 3.3kg alone already. Together with the camera incl. grip I am at almost 5kg. This Fuji 100-400mm f/4.5 lens weights now 1.4kg what makes together with the Fuji X-T2 and a grip about 2.2kg. More than half the wight… Guess what I prefer.
Can you please comment what focusing mode you were using? Single, zone, wide? Continuous? Thank you
Where are Your samples?
Excellent review, Ben. Really liked the punchy and informative approach. I shoot X-T1 and have X-T2 on pre-order. Good to know I can hire this lens for a weekend to use and try out. Glad you had added it to Lens Rental’s list. How about also adding the 2x converter?
Cheers,
Paul
