This is the ultimate Canon telephoto lens. I review the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L Mark II lens. With a professional build quality, fast glass, optimal stabilization and more, this is worth a buy for the working professional.

im planning on using this lens for graduation events. how does this lens handle pictures at incredibly low lights?
Good overview. Thanks! Keep up (Y)
I would call it the best zoom not telephoto.. The best telephoto @ 200mm is the 200mm F2 USM IS
Is there a lense similar for Nikon? I see this lense in a lot of photography videos, but I haven’t seen anyone mention a Nikon equivalent.
hi does this lens work with canon rebel xsi
The IQ results from some of the top Jazz festivals was incredible. Amazing lens!
great video! what is the closest you can get with this lens and stay sharp. thanks!
DREAM lens lol
You’re awesome! Thanks for this review 🙂
This is my dream lens. I went with the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 because it has image stabilization which the Canon lacks and some places say the Tamron is sharper. But for 70-200 I really want the Canon. With those two lenses in my bag I wouldn’t really need anything else. Maybe my 85mm f/1.8 to really blow out the background but that’d be rare for my situations.
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM or EF 70-200mm f/4L USM or Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM which is good for canon 80 D ?
This is my one and only lens for My Canon 1Dx Mark II
I have the old 70-200 f4.0. It’s a solid piece of gear for tight budgets. In a studio setting, the IQ is fantastic. I’d want the extra speed of the 2.8 for wildlife/sports, but the 4.0 works well for portraits.
I have a canon 5D Mark 3. All E lens
That is an excellent lens for both APS-C and Full Frame users. Strangely enough even though this one came out in 2012 and is still up to date are far as lenses go. There have been rumors that a new update is in the works..
Eric- outstanding review– so helpful! Can you recommend a monopod that you use with it (do you use a quick release and is that a separate item). I can’t tell what needs to be added on to make it all work. Thank you for these super fun, not too tech-y reviews! You are awesome!
what is the difference between the version 1
Debating between this lens or the 24-105 f4 v1 as my first L series
I shot both the 70-200mm F2.8 and F4. Both great lenses but I went with the F4 because even though I loose some light the IQ was just a bit sharper on the F4.
I do find it funny when people say that a 3lb lens is heavy. I shoot wildlife so anything under 10b is a blessing.
Mine arrived yesterday. It’s stunning now paired with my 80d. You could say it’s Christmas and birthday rolled into one.
We photographers are a visual group, as you probably know. I don’t think I’m alone when I say I was really hoping/expecting to see more photos for comparison.
I just Bought This lens and I love it
It’s my Second Pro lens
My firt one was the Sigma Art 35mm 1.4
and Now this one Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
using in a Canon 70D just waitting next year to get a 6D MK II or a 5D MK IV
I just ordered this lens! I have a t6i hopefully it works good with it until I upgrade my body which is soon… super excited!
Hey Eric what software do you use to edit your videos??
I have the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS I am looking to upgrade to the Canon version, I only use it for sports so IS is not an issue. My question is how does the non IS version compare to the IS markii version with image quality. Its a big price jump in between the two.
what would be a best option for person who like photography and taking occasional picture of his family and few friends ?
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Lens -VS- Canon EF 70-200mm f4 L IS USM -VS- Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L -VS- Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM ?
Is that IS option is worth to have on f2.8 ? Because there is a massive price difference… and f2.8 is already quite fast…
Just bought this lens as my first L lens and I love it
Thanks Eric. So at 70mm you can get as close as 5feet?
how many price in us dollar of this lens
i want this lens more than any other…. and the 18-105 G from sony lol – but i love canon lenses… can’t stand their cameras tho
my favourite lens. never lets me down. only the 85 1.2 has an even more awesome look/feel to the shots but it’s way more difficult to use and slow to focus.
Thanks. I didn’t think you could get that close
I have a canon e 14mm and 50 mmm prime. The 70 to 200 would be great!!
Can this lens work on 600D or no
Eric thanks for your time and effort I don’t shoot canon but I like to hear different review, Keep it up and don’t listen to the negative assclown fanboys
Crazy good lenses, I hired it for a wedding + weekend test and very much enjoyed it… Glad I could give it back though, it’s too dam heavy perhaps for non pro use, but I think for most pro use too… I got the f4 is version about a year later and love it, much more manageable weight for a full day wedding and don’t mind carrying it around just incase … It’s actually lighter than my 24-70 f2.8.. Which seems silly 🙂
yeah. I own one. awesome lens. if not the best piece of glass you can buy. LOVE it.
I bought this lens last year. LOVE it. !!!!!
I own the V1 of this. It’s good but not as sharp and does not like shooting in to back light. That said it was a lot cheaper than this V2 lens.
Did you find that it flairs a lot/loses contrast when shooting back lit subjects?
