About This Video:
In this video Sean Cannell and Omar Eltakrori from Think Media review the rokinon 35mm f/1.4 sony af and compare it to the sony zeiss 35mm f1.4. The new rokinon 35mm 1.4 sony autofocus is a game-changer because it’s budget and also has performance. The rokinon autofocus sony is a great lens from Rokinon (aka samyang). We think the rokinon af 35mm f/1.4 fe lens for sony e is a great lens to check out for both shooting photos and also video.

Jorel A says:

This video helped me choose the rokinon for my new Sony a7iii! Thank you guys!

Jerry M says:

Like most things, some people are willing to pay a premium for that last 1 or 2 percent. Same reason some pay millions for a Stradivarius violin. Not that it sounds that much better, barely perceptible, yet it does sound better. If some think that is an argument for the Zeiss, it is not.

CoolhandLukeSkywalkr says:

What about option C? I think I’m going with a sigma art lens.

cure969 says:

less advertising – more comparsion ! A few more pictures could be useful so that we can see the quality more detailed. The pimples on the forehead of the woman are much sharper with the Zeiss.

wingbert says:

Can’t wait for the SIgma Art lens to come out for E mount. Another lower cost option

Christian Lainesse says:

does the rokinon now ship with the updated firmware?

Adrian Luca says:

Does the Eye-AF work on the Rokinon / Samyang as we have it…

Bryan Chen says:

too less information.

CJamesPhoto says:

I’m selling my Samyang 35mm, its good for photos but every time i have used it for video it wouldn’t track me and just froze in one position.. or it followed something else while i had face tracking on.
So having something that doesn’t do everything i need is not worth having even if it is cheap.

Андрей Меньшиков says:

what camera was tested?

Hat in Grand Canyon says:

The bokeh on the rokinon is quite impressive but the Zeiss is something else

Mitch Phillips says:

Rokinon any day. Could literally buy the 35 and another lens for same price as the Zeiss. Love my Zeiss 55 1.8, but it’s form factor is a huge winner over Rokinon which isn’t evident in this case.

Daming Xing says:

The AF for video the rokinon is actually better to me..

Howard Pritchett says:

Great vid guys. But I was wondering,, does Eye Af work with either lens? Thanks

xavier moore says:

You guys did not give a detailed comparison of the two lenses at all. U gave a brief summary but nothing in depth. To compare the sharpness of a lens u have to pixel peep. To compare the difference of sound you have to record what they both sound like when the camera is rolling. U just can’t say “well the rokinon makes a little noise” what the hell Does a little mean?. If u are going to compare boke (again) you have to pixel peep. And this is the main thing that separates one lens from another… U guys did not give a comparison on Chromatic aberration. I appreciate the video guys bc it did give me something to go off of but come on u guys need to do better and spend less time talking about irrelevant stuff.

Tyler Kirk says:

Do you know what you had your autofocus settings on? Speed/responsiveness?

Peter Cerrato says:

What firmware version were you using on the Rokinon?

Foto4Max says:

Zeiss is known for colors and contrast due to coatings.

Gavin Hardy says:

Great “review” – helped me decide on buying the Samyang!

James Noble says:

Literally just got an a7 iii and this was a lens I was just thinking about and hadn’t even searched out yet and this vid was in my feed lol, great clip thx guys

dizlys says:

Hi, thanks for the video! I’m thinking of the Rokinon lens with the Sony A7III. But I’m wondering, does the Sony eye autofocus work with this Rokinon lens?

Mark Shirley says:

Would be nice if they did a 85mm as well. Can’t wait for the Sigmas to be released.

Sasha White says:

thanks for this videooo! it was great <3

blackjohnny0 says:

Gladly soon there should be also Sigma Art FE.

Dmitry Brodsky says:

Was your Rokinon with latest f2.0 firmware ? Because af got even faster with it

NetGawker says:

“….. as a photographer I generally won’t use the focus ring….”

Just when I was about to subscribe to what I thought was a photography channel, you killed the thought with that statement!!!
