Looking for some alternative Leica M-mount glass? The Konica series of M-Hexanon lenses might just be what you’re looking for. This is an exceedingly tasty 35mm rangefinder lens. I’ve spent the last three years shooting with this lens almost every day. Here are my thoughts on why it’s a keeper.

What do you think of Leica TL2?
Where do you buy you lenses and cameras? Ebay? I havent quite built up the guts for so expensive ebay-stuff yet
At its current price you might as well buy a Leica, if you could get it at 350 as you said then it might be worth it
thanks for this! looking forward to the KM 50/2 review:)
Wonder how this lens would do on my Sony a7ii.
Really enjoyed the review! I have the m-hexanon 50mm f2 as it was about half the price as the 35mm. Still itching for the 35mm focal length, however.
Sorry not that impressed with what I’ve seen here. I have a modified Leica 40mm Summicron f2 that blows it out of the water and it’s far smaller.
I have this same exact set up. Leica M6 classic with Konica M-Hexanon 35mm f2. I have yet to develop anything from this lens since it’s relatively new to my collection but upon over a year of research I am fairly confident that I will be pleased. I sold my Leica Summicron ASPH to get the Zeiss C Biogon 35mm f2.8 which I personally like more than the ASPH but I ended up wanting the f2 again and finally got the chance to pick up the Konica. Nice review, nice sample images, nice work all around.
yo, you got the the oldschool advance lever on your m6. did you exchange that yourself?
Any thoughts on why you chose the 35 over the 50?
Thnx for this review! I’m looking for a Leica lens but i’m not sure if i want to spend so much money for a 35mm. I recently bought a m6 body (2nd hand). Also i was hesitating between Voigtlander and Hexanon, but this video was very useful. Hope to see more stuff!
What’s your comment on konica hexanon 50mm f2? They Have similar performance?
It might be a very nice alternative. You got me intrigue Adam.
This was an excellent video. Please keep them coming…
I’m very fond of my konica auto s3 because of the lens! I wish it could be adapted to something else :/
Great photos!
But the backlit tho
I’ve used the M-Rokkor 40mm F2 on my Sony a7ii, and I’d say it’s as sharp as a Leica lens. You don’t need to buy Leica to get that extra sharpness. Granted, the lens was designed the same way optically.
Konica have many charming lenses for Leica user. Konica UC-Hexanon 35 2 limited edition and Konica M-Hexanon 60mm f1.2. Its non-limited line such as M-Hexanon 35 2 and 50 2.4 are also as good as Leica factory lenses.
Ahh I love your pictures, beautiful!
great review btw. and excellent shots to go with it. i absolutely see the color rendering of the hexanon complementing your style.
Do you scan you negatives yourself, or is it done by a lab? 🙂
